Lauren (and Richard) in the action again

The British Gas Great East swim held this weekend at Alton Water, Suffolk boasted a truly international field, amongst some 1500 competitors.

Representing LSC were two of our open water specialists:

16 year old Lauren Parsons (International squad) placed 14th in the 1 mile elite open race moments away from World champion and olympic silver medallist Keri-Anne Payne of the GB team.

Our top triathlete Richard Stannard(Internation squad) placed 12th in a strong field and only seconds adrift from Ross Davenport and Dave Carry of the GB team.

Lauren will be swimming for the club with a few more of her team mates this weekend at the K2.

SER Open water Champion Lauren Parsons

Here's Lauren Parsons with her age group and senior awards for winning the 1500m Open water SE Region championship 2009.

Sid Howes was runner up in the 3k open water SE Region champs on the same day. He completed the swim in just over 36 Minutes, a great result especially as it was his first open water event. Sid wore one of his brother Alfie's old GB suits for the event.

The official results and info are to be found at http://www.southeastswimming.org/openwater/

The two swimmers are pictured shortly after the events. What a great set of results for them and LSC! Well done both of you.

Let the results do the talking...

Rather than try to catch up with all the fantastic results from the last few days at the nationals, I'm attaching the results sheets as lovingly prepped by Jim Sanderson (just before he takes off on his 50th Wedding anniversary cruise!). This is a synposis of the whole meet. I've also included the BAGCAT sheets for completeness.

I am sure this is one of the best set of results we have had over recent years, of particular note is Alys Thomas (recently joined from Kingston Royals) who is 200 Fly national champion and the girls medley relay team [Lotte Hobbs/Chloe Bean/Grace Archer/Hannah Shore]who took bronze in a close run final.

If you don't have Excel then take a look at google docs where there is a free viewer that should get you in.

Watching from afar

We have just spent the last 30 minutes hitting the refresh button on the results scoreboard of the ASA site and watching the webcam to see our two finalists in the Womens Open 100m Fly Final. Hannah and Grace both made it through to the final in this tough event. They can be proud of being amongst the best fly swimmers in the land! Fantastic to see LSC occupying two lanes in the final - brilliant!
9. Grace Archer 17 Leatherhead 1:03.65 + 0.83 30.53
10. Hannah Shore 16 Leatherhead 1:03.86 + 0.83 30.32

Quick update on today's results

The Girls 4*100m Medley team go through to the Final in a fantastic 2nd place - just behind the old adversary Guildford! Some great swims in there - splits and swimmers were:
